Green belt concept is actually a systematic plantation of tolerant trees and shrubs. Diverse vegetative species contribute fundamental green engineering mechanisms against the slope erosion and slope instability in hilly regions of Sri Lanka. It is understood that not one, but a collection of species contribute to this end through the setting and functions of each type of vegetation and their positioning. Thus results of the study can be directly used for practical application in critical slopes.

The tea estate workers and residents in landslide prone areas in the hill country. The natural protection would be environmentally friendly and cost effective while being a long term solution as well.View Report
